A week ago, we adopted Gunner, a boxer-hound mix. What a roller coaster ride this has been! He’s a VERY good 8 month old neutered male, really smart and he behaves like a gentleman in the house (until the cats appear). He has killed one chicken and injured another, but that was my fault because the chickens were loose and he wasn’t on the leash. You know I love my chickens and it’s a sign of the regard I have for this beast that he’s still here. Obedience classes are in his immediate future.
These shots are from his first day. Since then I have been too busy trying to keep him separate from the chickens and cats to take more pictures. But there’s just one more I have to share…this hulking hound gets up in Steve’s lap and goes to sleep. The first night he was here, he slept in the bed with us. Now, thank goodness, he has his own bed, but he is a total snuggle bug. You can tell he was meant to live with our family. I hope we can get his behavior problems under control because all three of us humans love this guy.
This morning, he was somehow able to know that the Daily Commercial had a couple great opinion pieces and a good article about the Comp Plan transmittal…he grabbed the paper out of my hand at the bottom of the driveway and it took me a good 10 minutes to get it back. Truly, obedience classes are not an option!
